Greetings in Our Lord Jesus Christ!
Christ is Risen! Truly He is Risen!
We had a beautiful Holy Week and I want to take the opportunity to thank all who helped make it as inspiring as it was. Most of you either helped or participated in some way and it is a tribute to the health of the parish that there was so much participation. The services went of very smoothly and the collections & donations were up from last year. Thank you!
Our main focus will now center on the two events listed below. It is already turning out to be a beautiful spring, which will make our preparations all the more enjoyable. I call on your generosity, mostly your time, to help whenever possible when you are asked. It is very much appreciated! Please God both these events will be successful.
We have two big cultural events coming up for the spring & summer.
The first is a Hafli that will take place on Saturday, May 19th, at 5:30 PM at our parish hall.
The committee preparing for this event is very enthusiastic and have put a lot of thought into making it an enjoyable & memorable event.
Some highlights are that the menu will be centered by kobabs cooked on site and we have a special raffle, a $1,600.00 Persian Carpet! You will have to attend to have a chance to win it. A flyer will be posted soon giving further details.
The second will be our Third Annual Adirondack Greek Festival that will take place on Friday evening, July 20th. and Saturday, July 21st. Once again, we will provide excellent quality Greek food and dancing. We are very grateful for the support of the Greek Churches in the Capital District. It has become a big community event for our parish and I am sure it will grow even more this year.
I want to take the opportunity to welcome the young Orthodox people who have come to work in the Lake George & Saratoga areas over the summer.
Most of you are either from Eastern Europe or Russia and we want you to know that we will not hesistate to reach out to you if you need us.
Yes, there is an Orthodox Church not far from you! Our parish is not only composed of Syrian Orthodox Christians but also Greeks, Romanians, Russians, Serbians, Albanians, Lebanese and even Irish members.
Yours, in Christ,
Fr. Terence Baz, Pastor
